How do I search for help using the Turn2us Grants Search? - Turn2us Grants Search: Results page

This section explains how to use the Turn2us Grants Search to find charitable funds that may be able to help you, based on your personal circumstances, background and needs.

Turn2us Grants Search: Results page

When you have done your first search and clicked next, you will get a results page (example shown in Screengrab below).

This page explains more about the sections on the page, including:

The page will tell you how many results your search has produced and also remind you what you have searched on.

Summaries of charities that your search has produced

The summaries of the charities that your search has produced will appear at the bottom of the screen. Depending on how many there are, these may go over more than one page.

The summary will give you the name of the charity, labels to indicate what category it falls into (in the example above, 'Accountant' and 'National') and a brief description of what it does.

Please note: You will find that you are not eligible for help from every charitable fund listed in your results. You will have to read the summaries and profiles of any that look promising to find out more about the charitable fund, the support they give and whether you are likely to qualify for help from them.

Full charity profiles

Read the charities' summaries.

Where you think who they help and what they do matches your background, circumstances and needs, click the 'Find out more' button to go to the full profile for the charity (see Screengrab below).

This contains information on:

  • What the charity does in more details and the grants they give

  • Eligibility (qualifying rules)

  • How to apply

  • Other information - where the charity has other services

  • Contact details.

Click on the + signs on the right hand side to see the information for each section.

Read the profiles in detail when you have the results

It is important to read the information carefully once you have the results to make sure you are eligible for help from a charity before you contact them.

Please also read the 'how to apply' section carefully to make sure you make an enquiry using the methods that the charitable fund require. For example: Don't send an email if the charity asks for you to contact them by phone or letter.

Refining your search

You can refine your search by using the filters at the top of the screen (see Screengrab below).

Click on the tab for the filter you want to use. You will see a list of categories relating to that filter. Select the ones you want and click 'Apply'.  If you want to get rid of the categories you've selected for that filter, click 'Clear all'. Click 'Close' if you want to stop using the filter.

When you are looking through your Grants Search results, you may find some profiles that you are particularly interested in.

You can save these by clicking the 'Add to Favourites' button (see Screengrab 1 below). The star will change colour from white to purple and you will be able to access your favourites by clicking on the 'Favourites' tab in the filters section (see Screengrab 2 below).

Making an enquiry to a charity

There are two ways that you may be able to make an enquiry to any charities that you want to contact:

  • Directly using the contact information in the Contact details section of the profile

  • Online through Turn2us if there is a 'Enquire online' button on the right hand side of the profile.

Enquiry gate

In some cases, before you can access the contact details or the online enquiry form, you will have to confirm that you meet the eligibility criteria for that charity. The Grants Search does this through an enquiry gate (see the screengrab below).

If you confirm the eligibility status and click 'Enquire', the Grants Search will either:

  • Display the contact details where charities want you to apply directly to them, or
  • Take you to the online enquiry form if the charity accepts enquiries through Turn2us.

If you don't meet the eligibility criteria, don't tick the confirmation box.  Close the window and look for other charities that match your experience, situation and needs. If you click the 'Enquiry' button, it will give you a message telling you to do this and will not let you progress to the next step. (See the Screengrab below.)
